A visit from the Task Force on the Just Transition for Canadian Coal-Power Workers and Communities to Estevan on June 14 resulted in numerous meetings and plenty of discussion.



Estevan Mine workers ratify 4 year contract

On December 16, 2019, the over 300 employees of the Estevan Mine, members of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), Local 7606, ratified a four-year collective agreement.


Saskatchewan workers killed on the job 2018

It felt like the weather was crying as the names of Saskatchewan workers, who have lost their lives at workplaces, were read.

In 2018, 48 men and women were killed on the job. On the National Mourning Day April 28, the Estevan community honoured their lives during the ceremony by the Coal Car. Names of six of the 16 people who died during the Humboldt Broncos crash were read, including former members of Estevan Bruins organization Darcy Haugan and Mark Cross.
